There are two options for attaining the sandblast effect. (ONLINE CATALOGUE)
Fistly, a sandblast effect vinyl can be applied to the glass door or window which is a thin film that looks like sandblasting but which can be removed at any time. It is perfect for shopfronts or business logos and where a premises is being rented. There are two grades, a light film for a very soft effect ; and then the more true to life silver sputtered sandblasting effect. Note: House pets will scratch the film off doors as the vinyl is applied on the inside.
Secondly, and obviously the real deal. Once a pattern has been decided on, the mask for the window is prepared and then applied to the glass. The window is then sandblasted by blasting the glass with a fine grained sand at a high pressure (about 4.5 - 6.5 bar). After making sure the blasting is done evenly the mask is then removed and discarded. Note: Real sandblasting is preferred where harsh sunlight is present.
NO Dust. The system that we use does not require you to cover or remove everything from the space where the sandblasting is being done. The suction system we use traps over 95% of the dust from the sandblasting. Having a mobile unit we can do on-site sandblasting, no reason to remove doors and window panes for the job.
CLEANING and keeping your sandblasted window or door clean is fairly easy. It is advised that the sandblasting is done on the inside of the glass. We can also sandblast on the outside, but due to rain and dust the cleaning task wil be a weekly chore. To clean every day dirt and oily fingure marks simply use a dishwashing liquid solution and liberally wash done. Too little water will leave stipes. If you oiled the wooden frame and a little oil bled onto the glass, simply remove the oil with metholated spirits and then wash down with your dishwashing liquid solution. Putty is also removed using a stronger solution of soap and scrubbing with a pot scouerer (NOT steel wool). Note: Varnish cannot be removed from the sandblasting at all.
